Biography

Abdelghani Achahoud is an independent consultant specializing in civic technology, innovation and digital security at the intersection of civil society and emerging technologies in the MENA region. Since 2018 he has provided strategic consultancy and training to civil society organizations, activists, journalists and networks across Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania and the wider region.

He also serves as Civic Technology & Innovation Lead at the Innovation for Change MENA Hub, where he leads innovation and technology work, manages the Hub's civic-tech portfolio, and supports a network of more than 2,000 civil society actors with technology and digital-security assistance.

Over eight years, he has built collaborative partnerships with CSOs, activists, journalists and technologists throughout the Middle East and North Africa, co-creating technology-driven solutions to critical civic-space challenges.

Helping civil society harness technology, digital security, and artificial intelligence to strengthen democracy and civic participation.

Highlights

  • Designed and delivered 50+ regional and national training workshops on cybersecurity, digital rights and AI for good, reaching 2,000+ participants and training 1,000+ civil society actors across MENA.
  • Managed a regional Cybersecurity HelpDesk for CSOs and journalists, and co-led rapid-response subgrant programs.
  • Co-led multiple Technology for Good initiatives empowering civic space actors across the MENA region.
  • Independent consulting practice since 2018 covering digital security, civic technology, digitalization and data-protection strategy for NGOs and small organizations.
